Training
courses
How is training delivered?
Students,
whilst being employed by a hairdressing salon in the local LSC area, attend
the training school for off the job training, 2 days a month, during this
period all requirements of the NVQ level 2 will be covered. Students are
encouraged to work at their own pace whilst following a flexible programme
allowing for individual learning needs. Individual tutorials are given on
a regular basis, allowing tutors to monitor trainees carefully and their
progress is reviewed every 12 weeks.
What about practical
training?
Practical taining is carried out in the salon, following the school's training
programme. Some prefer to train throughout the day, whilst some set aside
one or two evenings a week for training sessions. A trainer is appointed
who is responsible for not only the training but also assessing the student's
progress. A programme co-ordinator visits each salon on a regular basis to
ensure training is being carried out and to cross check theory and practical
assessment. These visits are essential to enable us to monitor the NVQ progress.
To compliment this the school has its own salon with a large clientele, enabling
students to gain assessments wihin the school.
What will it
cost?
School leavers are funded by the government for Levels 2 & 3. For Students
wishing to pay privately a price list is available on request. For more
information on the NVQ levels please select NVQ from the menu.
What are Key Skills?
Key Skills are part of today's requirements and are fully integrated into
hairdressing qualifications. Key skills give students the basic understanding
and ability in communication skills, information technology and application
of number.
